For lunch, he would make ham and cheese sandwiches or bologna and cheese sandwiches or hamburgers or cheeseburgers. He would make all kinds of meals with shrimp. Or he would make hamburger gravy and mashed potatoes. He always had fruit and gave each homeless person a banana and an apple or a banana and an orange to take with them. He also had hot coffee and tea and fruit drinks.

After he finished cooking each night, James Brown would turn his phone booth into a shower booth. The homeless people could take a shower and get clean and dry clothes to put on after their shower.
