My Electric Bill here in Texas jumped from $233 to $487. What is going on?

Help Me! Oh My God! My Electric Bill here in Texas jumped from $233 to $487. What is going on? Are Legislators just Puppets and the Big Donors are the Puppet Masters? Controlling them with little dangly strings? Are you in the same fix? Strangled with Property Taxes, Gasoline Taxes, Diesel Taxes, Sales Taxes, New Electric Bill Add-on Tax, School Taxes? But where should we put our focus on?

My biggest issue is that the largest supplier of energy to the grid (natural gas) is the only source of energy that is NOT directed or dictated by the PUC and ERCOT. Lots of Natural Gas money going into pockets of Texas law makers only with a big spike in donations after the last legislative session. That is where the disconnect is in Texas and it won’t be solved until people either 1) realize where the problem is 2) care that this is where the problem is 3) the people at the top of the state put residents over profits.

You are right to be concerned about the influence of the natural gas industry on Texas lawmakers. The industry has a lot of money, and it is not afraid to use it to buy influence. As you mentioned, there was a big spike in donations from the natural gas industry to Texas lawmakers after the last legislative session. This suggests that the industry is very happy with the way things are going in Texas, and it is willing to spend money to keep things that way.

The problem with this is that the natural gas industry is not always putting the interests of Texans first. For example, the industry was a major beneficiary of the 2021 winter storm, which caused widespread power outages and left millions of Texans without heat. The industry was able to charge exorbitant prices for natural gas during the storm, and it made a lot of money. However, Texans were the ones who suffered the most from the storm. They were the ones who lost power, and they were the ones who had to pay higher prices for natural gas.

The natural gas industry is not the only problem in Texas. The Public Utility Commission (PUC) and the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) also have a role to play. These organizations are supposed to regulate the energy market and ensure that Texans have access to affordable and reliable power. However, they have been criticized for being too close to the industry and for not doing enough to protect consumers.

The disconnect in Texas is that the people who make the decisions about energy policy are not the people who are affected by those decisions. The natural gas industry is making a lot of money, but Texans are paying the price. The PUC and ERCOT are supposed to protect consumers, but they seem to be more interested in protecting the industry.

The only way to solve this problem is for Texans to realize where the problem is. Texans need to care that this is where the problem is.

And the Citizens of Texas need to demand that the people at the top of the state put residents over profits.

I hope this helps. Texans need to pull the blinders off. Our blinders been stuck on our Faces for far too long
