It’s always a sad moment when you survey Storm Damage the next day. And your Favorite Tree is down. And admit it, you loved that tree, we love our Trees. All of us do. Don’t we?
But when you Call someone to cut it up, GOOD LUCK! Those folks are in the Money Business! That Big Tree above us gonna Cost you $2000 minimum. And roof damages a lot more.
But can you do it yourself?
Having a Tree cut up and removed is a costly expense. But can you do it yourself? And if you want to try, here are videos to take a look at before you do. Have I cut up Trees? Yes, and just take it slow and if you get tired, wait till you are fresh. Trees are HEAVY! And you could get hurt trying to over-lift. And you could break a leg or arm or get a finger or hand hurt. Just relax and take it slowly. This isn’t a RACE! Get friends to help if you have any. And don’t make it a Drinking Affair where Drunks get hurt. Don’t mix Alcohol with tree cutting.

Just look at the Big Broken Limb! Oh Brother.
With a Chainsaw, work slowly and let the saw blade do the cutting. Don’t force the cut. And pay attention to the fact that when you cut a limb in half, it can cause a bind on your saw blade if you aren’t paying attention. Look before you cut. If you cut a limb, ask yourself-Will this cut put my saw in a bind.
When I can, I like to have another limb under the one I am cutting so that there is a clean fall and no binding at all when I cut thru the limb.
If your saw is getting into a bind, don’t continue till you are completely bound up or the saw blade is broken. You could get hurt. If the saw is in a bind, turn the saw off and remove the saw. Jerking on the saw could cause the blade to hit your foot or leg and you might have to go to the hospital. Be Careful.

And snakes love downed trees. Be Careful!
I really like all of these Videos. You should watch all of them. Cutting a Tree is easy to do but it is a Dangerous Activity when you don’t take all precautions you can take. I recommend a good snug pair of LEATHER GLOVES. I use rawhide gloves.

One time I was cutting thru a fallen tree and right in the middle of a cut, my chainsaw blade grabbed something and the blade broke. What was it? Someone had shot the tree with an expensive HUNTING ARROW and my saw found that arrow tip eight inches into the Tree. Most likely this is what killed my tree. Did I find out who did it? Only one person I ever saw was in his front yard shooting a bale of hay with a baby deer pic on it. And he lives right across the street. Some people don’t care because they Hate their Lives. And they don’t care who they inflict pain upon. They are in pain.
But Trees die just like we do. Bugs can kill them. Diseases can kill them.
Just be Careful! Don’t get yourself hurt. Maybe a loan is better than going to the hospital or the graveyard. 😉
